25 Years of Netcare! From SAP Document Management to Secure Enterprise Collaboration. 

This year marks an important milestone for Netcare: 25 years of working with enterprise technology and SAP document solutions. 

A lot has changed during this time. 

When Netcare started, enterprise systems were primarily designed around internal processes. Documents were created, stored, and managed inside company boundaries, with SAP acting as the trusted source of business information. 

Today, the business landscape looks very different. 

Companies collaborate globally. Suppliers, customers, partners, and external stakeholders are increasingly part of daily operations. 

Information needs to move faster, but without losing control. 

The Evolution of SAP Document Management 

For many years, SAP Document Management System has provided organizations with a structured approach to managing documents connected to business processes. 

Through SAP DMS integration, companies have been able to connect documents directly with SAP business objects such as materials, equipment, projects, purchase orders, and quality processes. 

This connection between documents and business context remains critical. 

But modern collaboration has introduced a new challenge: 

What happens when documents need to move outside the SAP environment? 

Keeping Control Beyond System Boundaries 

Traditional approaches such as email attachments, file transfers, and uncontrolled sharing methods often create gaps. 

Once a document leaves the controlled environment, companies may lose visibility: 

Who received the document? 

Is the latest version being used? 

Should access still be available? 

Can the activity be traced? 

This is where modern SAP document management outside system boundaries becomes increasingly important. 

Organizations need secure SAP document distribution while maintaining governance, traceability, and control. 

From Document Storage to Document Governance 

Over the years, Netcare has seen document management evolve. 

The focus is no longer only on storing documents. 

It is about managing the complete lifecycle:

Enterprise collaboration requires trust and trust requires visibility. 

Building the Next Generation of SAP Collaboration 

Our experience working with SAP document environments became the foundation for Document Collaboration Hub (DCH). 

DCH was created to extend SAP DMS – document management system  beyond traditional system boundaries. 

The goal is simple: 

Allow organizations to collaborate securely while keeping SAP as the single source of truth. 

Documents can be shared with external stakeholders while maintaining control over access, versions, and activity history. 

Looking Forward 

Technology has changed significantly over the last 25 years. 

But one principle has remained unchanged: 

Business-critical information must remain secure, controlled, and trusted.
