INTERVIEW – FINN SCHNOHR, FOUNDER & CEO OF NETCARE

Netcare - Finn Schnohr

With so many different roles at Netcare International we thought we’d give you a little insight into some of the people that make it tick. We catch up with Finn Schnohr, Founder & CEO.

Q. TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND?
I started my career, longer ago than I care to remember, at Texas Instruments as a service engineer and then started a consultancy company working with cloud systems when they were in their infancy. After selling that company I started Netcare and spent time involved in the telecommunications industry before moving on to developing SaaS products.

Q. WHAT WAS THE FIRST PRODUCT YOU DEVELOPED?
‘The Elephant’ was our first product which evolved after we had been running a taskforce which highlighted a number of limitations and lack of functionality with the SAP user interface.

Q. HOW DID THE PRODUCT GET ITS NAME?
It was named after ‘The elephant in the room’. It appeared that people knew about the limitations that were there but nobody wanted to talk about or do anything to address them.

Q. WHERE ARE YOUR OTHER MAIN FOCUSES RIGHT NOW?
As we looked at SAP Document Management System (DMS) and its integration with other platforms, especially in regard
to distribution, collaboration and security we found that quite often there was no cross-platform compatibility. We created the Document Collaboration Hub (DCH) to address these issues as well as extending the capabilities of DMS. Our SaaS product links into the back end of these systems to ensure that the integrity and security surrounding document management can be upheld.

Q. HOW HAS DCH BEEN WELCOMED BY THE INDUSTRY?
We have had a great response including from ASUG, the US Association of SAP users, and have joined as members and we have also teamed up with Microsoft Marketplace and Crayon, a sales arm of Microsoft, who have, endorsed DCH as a ‘Brilliant product of Netcare’

Q. HOW DO YOU FIND THE WORLD OF REMOTE WORKING AND LACK OF AN OFFICE?
Most of our employees are working remotely and it is, of course, challenging to build up close working relationships with people you have never actually met. We are always looking at ways we can improve and manage the working environment both In-house and externally with our clients. But we also have two support offices – one in Portugal and one in Fort Lauderdale – where the support staff work from so it isn’t a completely remote world for us.

Q. SO WHAT LEVELS OF SUPPORT ARE YOU OFFERING FROM THESE OFFICES?
We are mainly offering end-user SAP support to around 25000 users on a daily basis
and this can be in many areas of SAP from installation and configuration to trouble shooting and TREX support.
Of course support for DCH is high on the priority list too as well as offering in-house support and training to some of our clients.

Q. IT APPEARS THAT PARTNERSHIPS ARE AN IMPORTANT PART OF NETCARE.
Yes they are important for a number of reasons not least as a rubber stamp of trust in our products and integrity as a company. Having the backing of some of the large players is, of course, also important for business as it instils confidence to potential and existing clients. But italsohasabigimpactonusasa company knowing that our hard work behind the scenes has been for the right reasons and we are producing SaaS products that are really needed.

Q. ARE YOU EMBRACING THE WORLD OF AI AT NETCARE YET?
I think many companies are starting to use it but that doesn’t necessarily mean it is being used correctly. We will most certainly try and utilize its benefits with regard to handling and combining information especially when we are talking about large amounts of data. It should be really useful assisting in the indexing and extraction of information and meta data across platforms.
I’m sure as it develops and improves we will find that we use it more and more further down the line but for now we will take it one step at a time.

THANKS SO MUCH FINN IT HAS BEEN REALLY NICE TO HAVE A CHAT ABOUT YOU AND THE GROWTH OF NETCARE AND WE WISH YOU CONTINUED SUCCESS AS YOU MOVE FORWARD.
